Thread Starter | lyrics ? does it sound right ?
well I don't know where to post this question so moderators please transfer it somwhere else if needed. it is a question for producers and engeneers that produce/record non native english speaking artists but who want to record in english. ok. here it goes: how do you do it ? how much do you pay attention to lyrics and to pronouciation ? of course vocals should be done pro - meaning in time, in tune and with right colour and emotion with great singing technique coupled with carefuly choosen mic in adequate acoustic space into right preamp to apropriate medium of choice (phew). but what about language ? music is universal language, yeah I know. but what if some notes carry some lyrics that should actualy mean something like vocal tracks do ? I know that for some music genres it really does not matter much - let's say grindcore metal. it could be also quite good thing on some gothic "dracula singer" rock. but for most projects I do it bothers me. it doesn't sound right to me - and if something doesn't sound right then I guess it is my call to do something about it. so how do you do it ? I hope you understand what I am trying to ask in my bad english (but that IS the problem I am talking about) (btw. I was surprised that abba is from sweden but I knew right away that vocals on scorpions, nightwish, guano apes, sepultura...etc don't sound "best possibile" to me. do you english speaking pros notice that ? does it sound right to you? damn those language barriers.) |
