Is Alex Newport around?

If he or any of his friends lurk here, allow me to extend a really huge:

"Holy ****ing shit, THANK YOU" ...

for The Locust's "Safety second, Body Last."

Everyone here should be taking notes on how to take an undecipherable wall of noise and create a mix with so much definition and instrument seperation its scary. Incredibly chunky guitars, kick and toms in your chest, moog bombarding every known frequency, vocals screeching through your brain. This is one of the best (if not THE best) drum mixes I've ever heard. Actually, the same goes for the entire mix/production. My 10 year old, blown out Altec Lansing computer speakers sound alive and well. Its a definite sonic step up from "Plague Soundscapes"... if only in the myriad of minute details.

To all Gearslutz: do yourselves a favor and BUY THIS ALBUM. Study it. Learn from it.

Congrats congrats congrats and thank you to Alex.

And, of coure, thank you The Locust for giving me music to love again. Oh, and thank you so much for bailing on the Clearchannel tour dates... poor souless Patton. =[

Though I wish, when they do their UK tours, they wouldn't forget that the UK includes Scotland as well.

But that's by the by

I don't think he hangs out here (not a big fan of computers) but I did manage to snag a nice long interview with him for this week.

Link is here, if you're curious: Producer Profile: Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Death Cab For Cutie, City and Colour) : SonicScoop – Creative, Technical & Business Connections For NYC

Heterodox, I quoted one of your descriptors in the piece!
