Just wondering if anyone's going to Sounds Expo in London this year?? I'm going (haven't decided which day yet) and it would be nice to hook up if any of you are going to be there.

Yes thanks for starting this thread. There WILL be an oficial Gearslutz Dinner on Sat 16th of April. Now.. the odd / awkward thing is... the show shuts it's doors at 4pm on Sat.. So for anyone traveling down I suggest getting to the show early.... and planing to do some shopping in the west end before dinner!

I'll jump in quickly here: THREE reasons for not chosing the 16th for the dinner: 1. F.A. Cup semi-finals... (ok, I know that won't convince you) 2. I can't make it due to a gig in Bournemouth of all places 3. I CAN'T MAKE IT  see... this is how much I want to hang out with you guys... |

Restaraunt will probably be in Chinatown, central London. What time is the kick off for semi final? See, the other days for the show are 'weekdays' and I figured not everyone will be able to get that time off to travel to Wembley... What days do our estemed Low End moderators Labs & Dr Delta get into the UK? (they will be at the Dinner) |

I am developing ideas for stuff to do from 4pm untill dinner... Wembly may end up being the dinner destination if one new plan gets organised... I wonder if the show is ending on Sat at 4pm BECAUSE of the football... any insight into this situation is greatly appreciated... thanks in advance! |

Come on UK Gearslutz - make plans to go to the show Saturday moring / afternoon then and join us for dinner or simply JOIN US FOR DINNER! April 16th, London, UK location tbc Details will be posted shortly - dinner venue will either be near the show in Wembley or in Londons west end (probably Chinatown) Register for the show here http://www.sounds-expo.co.uk/ Re the dinner, you dont have to be a regular poster or have a lot of studio gear to come along! Digital Village are having a cut price sale there on some high end gear as far as i know...... So im hoping to buy a new mic pre while im there Paul |

If any of you guys are visiting the show... feel free to come by the DV Pro stand. Mostly it's 120u of cool outboard and Pro Tools HD. We're also showing a few new pieces yo may not have seen before: - TL Audio M4 console - Drawmer S3 multiband compressor - Drawmer 3SUM - Neve 8051 surround compressor - FAR OBS100 monitors I've tried to attach a few images but I can't work the damn thing out on this new forum version (!?) Mike Cluskey of AMS Neve will there to rep the Neve kit (Thurs only). Also the guys from Manley and Neve have kindly given us a few t-shirts etc to give away, if you mention you're a Slut, we'll see what's left in the goody bag. Over and out...

This Saturday 16th 1) At the show close 4pm Sat afternoon, Meet Jules & the gang just inside the exit area at 4:30 - then travel with us to...... our VIP destination!!!!! 2) 5:30 pm we are honored to be the guests of Alchemy Mastering - a great mastering facility, in the centre of London, in a skyscraper with a spectacular 360 degree view over London. Studio bookings manager Emily has agreed to host beer & peanut mini party & tour of the facility - JUST FOR GEARSLUTZ!!! THIS IS VERY KIND OF HER TO AGREE TO ON A WEEKEND!!!!! - SO PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY (YOU WILL BE MADE TO WAIT!!) Please be mindful that there will be work in progress and our tour wil have to fit in and around that work. The address is Alchemy Mastering, 29th Floor, Centre Point, London, WC1A 1DD When you get there tell the guy at reception this exactly "I am from the engineering website and have come to visit Emily at Alchemy" WRITE THAT DOWN NOW!!!!!! Then we move on to 3) 7pm First Floor, The Royal Dragon, 30 Gerrard Street, China Town, W1V 7LP reservation - "Julian" It is NOT one big bill, we pay individually Then onto .... 4) Meet us outside the Royal Dragon / approx 9pm?? to head off to a bar somewhere!!! |
