Sidechaining to Avalon 737sp Compressor

Hello, I"ve read that you can sidechain into the 737sp's compressor, essentially bypassing the unit's preamp. Is this possible? I'm basically looking to use the compressor to tame the output from my 1073 without adding any of the avalon pre's tone... Any 737 users out there that can help me with this? Does the line in bypass the preamp?

Thanks in advance,

Dor

guilty as charged! haha. I have been looking around for a dedicated compressor. I'm looking at either a 1176 or a some type of neve module. I'd like to keep it under $1500. I used the compressor on my isa 220 with good results recently. I'll give the avalon a try next.

why not look at the distressor?

i wish you could sidechain the isa220 and bypass the pre. i personally like it while tracking vocals...i like it over the avalon.
i think the 430 lets you.

i can't deside between the 1073>distressor or a buzz audio arc1.1

yeah, i've heard nothing but good things about distressor. I'll have to do some research on it before making my decision.
