That's gonna be a cool way for mfgr's to market their preamps:

"Don't settle for a mic pre with less than 245 parts!!!"

It'll have all kinds of extra screws and stuff in it....

Does anyone know if the pres will be wired internally to the AD modules? Or do you have to wire them over the patchbay?

Likely a reference to how few parts are in it compared to most mic pres...

Are you sure about that? It sounds like considerably less than what might be in, say, an API/OSA style preamp, even if you count the individual parts in the op-amp...

Then on the other end of the scale, you have things like the Gordon Audio preamps, which are just ridiculous:

I think what it means is they are pushing the "less is more" idea that with less components to go through, the more "pure" the sound will be.

I'm reminded of when transistor counts were used as marketing items for "transistor radios" when I was a kid. "23 Transistors!" Half of them were crippled and used as diodes...

(OK, I'm dating myself. My grandmother bought me a transistor radio and I tuned in CKLW and heard the Byrds do "Mr. Tambourine Man" when it first came out, and my life changed...)

(from the lavry website)

"The concept of “minimum electronics in the signal path” is great for some applications, but a liability where each gain stage must accommodate a very large gain range. "

hence the 244 parts.
