Thread Starter | Tom Petty vocal chain Does anyone know what the vocal chain was for Tom Petty on his album Into the great wide open? It was produced by Jeff Lynne, engineered by Richard Dodd. Bob. |

| Do a search in the guest moderator archives. Richard Dodd did a guest spot about a month or two back. I believe they went over that stuff. Lots of very cool info in those archives under Richard Dodd. |

| funny Richard did the mother of all forums on that very topic during the entire month of January; too bad you missed it, 'cuz it ain't here no more, due to the vagaries of internet forums... But boy, it was great while it lasted.. sigh |

| Richard deleted his posts, so there are no archives. I believe the answer to your question, if I remember correctly, is a C12-->neve1073-->1176

| You can't get the archive back for Richard D, because he deleted all his threads; it's the thread-starter's prerogative to do that; and if you're a thread poster, you can delete any and all your posts... There was some issue that came up, besides the usual couple of wankers who posted inane stuff that quickly got shot down by other folks: It was one of the most awesome, no-holds-barred threads I've witnessed, and I didn't even keep on top of it that much. He was such a giving, genuine person, and the majority of the posters were so enthusiastic and respectful; even the more "difficult" parties around here seemed to check themselves: A sight to behold. But I think what happened was that b.s. politics reared its ugly little head: 1: A few offhand remarks about "rockstars" were made, as most experienced "been-there, done-that, made u a hit" engineers are wont to: I gather some "blowback" occured, mostly from I'm guessing, industry groupies... 2: People started to get personal with him, and he figured, "enuff, not worth the hassle" and shut the whole thing down. I might be a bit off on specifics, but I think that's the heart of the matter. Too bad; the topics got me thinking about, listening to, and even buying music I'm not normally all that interested in (T.P.) and expanding my awareness... oh well; there's always his posts hidden within 2ndary threads, and quotes in other folks posts. It was a prime example of the best that GS has to offer. |

| Good thing I wrote some of his tips down. Bummer it's not there anymore. I posted before I checked, but assumed it was still available. I would have loved to read them again. |
