Drum kit and mic pre usage?
Ok. Probably kind of silly to ask but I am curious. I have a session this week and wanted to pick everyones brains on the subject of which pres YOU would use for what.

Pres that i have

UA 610 (2 channels)
Vintech 1272 (2 channels)
Vintech X73i (1 channel)
Groove Tubes Brick (1 channel)
Api (4 channels)
GML 8300 (4 channels)

Standard drum kit that I'll be miking as follows

Overheads L/R
Snare top/bottom
rck tom
floor tom
kick drum in/out/3ft away
room L/R
hi hat
ride
single far far away mic

Thanks for any suggestions

Hat - GML
Toms - 1272
OH - UA 610
Ride - GML
Rooms - GML
Far Away Room - X73i
Kick 3 feet away - GML

Thanks. Looks good.

You know, I've heard a lot of bad stuff about the UA. But I too have found it to do wonderfully on overheads. I have not really been blown away elsewhere.

well i mean they aren't my favorite pre's but they sound good as a matched pair. I know a guy in LA however who is a tech who could replace the tubes in it with some nicer ones if you want.

Thanks for the offer. But maybe you could tell me what is the best tube for the UA? My partner is tube/amp tech. I could just have him do it.
