Thread Starter | Tape Op George Massenburg Quoute....Help???
Strange request, I know, but I'm trying to find a George Massenburg quote I read in an old Tape Op. I've scanned all my old ones, stretching back to Issue 20, I think, but I have a couple of holes in my collection due to moves and time and whatnot. Issue #64 features an interview with Massenburg and references another Massenburg feature in issue #54....soooo... Could I impose upon some extremely kind-hearted Gearslut to dig up his Tape Op issue #54 and find a quote where GM is talking about hits? He says something along the lines of "It never ceases to amaze me of how ordinary songs seem before we label them 'hits' in retrospect. It's just people working as hard as they can to do the best they can." -- or SOMETHING ...loosely like that. I really would appreciate it. Thanks VERY very much! Cheers. ![]() Ps. Back issues are available, and I may have to go that route, but then it would have to be laboriously mailed to me, and I thought I would at least bounce it off my fellow sluts first. |

| Quote:
The context is..."It never ceases to amaze me how small the future hit record appears on the creation side of the mirror...when the song is still being written...when it's still in production, because that sense...that knowledge of what a hit record is before it's a hit and after it's a hit, well, those are two different universes."
