Same here....I also have the rl906 and they blow my Adam S2-A's away.
Beeing half the size of the Adams they still give a better bass response. It's unbelievable really...

I've got a pair of the big, full-range RL901K's here, which continue to impress me.

This company is doing some very cool stuff, and are becoming less and less of a "secret".

Oh totally, the ME's rock.

If I could afford a pair of RL901's for mixing I would but they are about £8000.
I too was impressed with the RL906's for their size. They really do have a precise sound just like their bigger brethren...

Just curious but how much did you guys pay for the 906's, KMR doesn't list them on their website here in the UK (just the 901's).

I'd love a pair of 906's for a portable location recording rig - they really punch bigger than their size - they are absolutely tiny, way smaller than even a PMC DB1...

Cheers Tom

...so it needs one year until some of you discovered this monitors... oh well.

TRW- in their official pricelist last year they bid € 2240,-- inkl. 16% Vat. for a pair of RL906.
Right now there is a nice pair of RL904 in cherry on ebay the only disadvantage, the seller wants that one pick them up in Hamburg

Hmmm thanks Andreas - I didn't realise they were quite that pricy for the little ones.....sound fantastic though.

These speakers really are worth a listen, for those that have not heard them you should check 'em out!

Hello all.

I've been reading the forum for a while and have finally signed-up for the bottomless pit of gear-talk...

I went down to KMR a couple of days ago to discuss a few things, including some small nearfields for my new location recording van. I'd set my stall out for some serious head scratching and indeed, I heard some splendid monitors, but when I heard the RL906s, I thought that's it. I've brought them back for a trial and so far, we all love the sound.

They're not overly flattering and they don't have the slightly 'fussy' top-end that some monitors seem to exhibit. I record a lot of acoustic and classical music and they sound to be ideally suited for this purpose. I'm not convinced that they're a rock speaker, although I could well be wrong.

I don't think I'm going to be sending them back. They're not exactly cheap, but then again, they're certainly not expensive.

Difficult to say, the Dynaudios go deeper, but the Geithains are more "true"
you hear better, what's the matter very precise tools.

I know someone, who uses 904, shoot me a pm, if you like to hear them !

But if you look in this range, did you ever hear of SE Mod 400 Nearfield Studio Monitors ? These are extrememly good nearfields ! Unbelieveable dynamic , I was completely baffled , when I heard them the first time (and later)

That's a common impression from cardioid and dipole speakers. Ordinary box speakers can perform as well but it takes a lot of the room and acoustic treatment.

SE - STRAUSS ELEKTROAKUSTIK, Lautsprecher

a friend of mine has the Strauss speakers(the big ones, top of the line in that range)

Bonjour.
merci pour l'offre.
les RL-906 sont malheureusement trop petite. :(

please tell us more about the geithains!!!

what i read from german forums that they sound all familar(same).
bigger ones = bigger sound of course...

i am a fan of ADAM monitors(did have: A7, p11, s2a), but they lack in bass information, compared to all other monitors(heard: o110, bm6a, 8040a focal solo...) i talking/comparing about 6,5 ich woofers or less.

what the hell is going on with adam... they are useless without a subwoofer for making beats. for me they sound like the woofer is hanging out of the cabinet.

i dont search bloming bass but it must be there down to 40hz

i want to buy these RL904! in passive for only 1050,- eur a piece , new without taxes.

Well, I've the S2a's as well and in my new (acoustically proper treated) room they DO sound great and deliver enough bass.
In my former room in the Netherlands (smaller, but also acoustically proper treated) they did not sound so good and the RL906's bass response was better. In this new room the S2a's will go down to 40Hz, where as the RL906 crap out at around 50Hz. The RL906 is also not a very loud speaker but that's not a problem for me.
However, overall the RL906 sound better than the S2a. It seems that the Adams try to please you while the RL906 makes you work harder on your mix.

In the Netherlands I had a sub woofer connected to the RL906's and that was perfect. I still have to try this over here in France but that will be in about 2 months or so since the sub is still in the Netherlands.

Right now I'm saving up money for these new RL944K speaker. They radiate less bass to the backside and because of this are more forgiving in terms of placement and room treatment. They do cost something like 5500 euro a pair though

The fact that ALL parts are made in the same factory and thus are tuned to each other is what makes this speakers great.
pilldriver: if you go for the passive version make sure you connect it to a good amp with (most important) a very good active crossover in it.

WOW the RL944K looks exciting, never seen this "radiating" thing before. as i understand its something alike "dipole subwoofer" only far better.

Actually, now they have relatively new model RL 940, which is an improvement over 904 (larger woofer, overall better sound). I heard them when I visited Geithains, they sound reallly great. I will have them here in my studio for few days next week, together with RL 906 (and of course, my own 901k).

hey andreas,

have you had the chance to compare them with monitors like klein&hummel o300 or the 110´s? just curious if they play in a complete different league than the k&h´s.
cheers from duisburg!
