ApogeeFirewire : X-Firewire news March 2005

March 9th, 2005

Apogee Electronics announces new drivers, firmware and documentation for the X-Firewire Option card , which may be downloaded from our web site here:www.apogeedigital.com/downloads/

Windows XP Service Pack 2
• Operation of the X-Firewire card in conjunction with all Apogee host interfaces (Rosetta 800, Rosetta 200, AD-16X, DA-16X, Big Ben) is now supported under Windows XP.

• The X-Firewire ASIO driver for Windows XP now supports XP Service Pack 2

• The X-Firewire Updater for Windows XP is available, to update X-Firewire cards for
operation with Apogee host interfaces.

• X-Firewire firmware for all Apogee host interfaces is now available. Using the Updater application, install firmware on the X-Firewire card to match the Apogee host interface into which the card is installed. For example, load the “AD-16X version of firmware" onto an X-Firewire card installed in an AD-16X.

• The Firemix zero latency software mixer for Windows XP is presently in the beta test phase, and should be released shortly.

OS X 10.3.7
• Operation of the X-Firewire card in conjunction with the Rosetta 800, Rosetta 200 and Big Ben is supported under OS X 10.3.7. Operation of the AD-16X and DA-16X will be announced shortly.

• Under certain circumstances a hardware exchange may be necessary; thus, please be sure that you have registered your cards. We will ensure that all registered owners receive information as soon as it is released.

• The Firemix zero latency software mixer for OS X is presently in the beta test phase, and should be released shortly.

Sounds very good Max.
Did you make extensive tests and can we be sure that this time FW will work as expected?

FW will work as expected, with the understanding that there are still some issues on the Mac to be addressed. For more info, you can download the X-Firewire manual from the website. In there we have all of the information you will need to understand what the limitations are and how to troubleshoot some of the ongoing issues.

As those issues go, understand that we are working very hard with all of the other parties to help them get this stuff sorted out as fast as possible.
