Another good reason to give Vista a complete miss.

My new PC (which I will get in a few days) is all XP-Pro.

I use XP but my friend brought over his laptop with Vista the other day and I was shocked at how slow it ran. I don't know if that's par but it's enough to keep me awaydfegad Just opening My Computer was slow

Yes it *is* par as far as I've heard - one of the reasons I stayed away for my new PC.

My laptop with Vista isn't too bad. But I'd never use Vista for audio because XP ain't broken.

I feel I should comment that I've never actually had an issue with Vista. I use the computer for web design, surfing the net, data tracking for my studio etc. Nothing really critical that I can't recover from, but I've never had an issue.

You've got to do some stuff to Vista to make it fly. I find that you need a minimum of 2gb of ram as well before the thing opens up to where it is actually "fast."

I'm a mac guy, but I use PC's for the AV stuff I do. Office 2007 did not run smooth on XP for me, nor did the update for 03 to read 07 documents. Since I turned off my user account controls and the widgets (or whatever they are called), my two vista machines have been running great.
