| I spend 100 percent of my time as an engineer. 95 percent of that is spent mixing. It took me 15 of my 17 years in the business to put together my own room and I would not trade it for the world. Never played much but I have always listened to and loved music. Grew up in a house with music playing in every room and every style you could imagine. Very diverse and eclectic. It had a huge impact on how I work now and all the styles of music I work on. My 2 cents worth, Michael Greene |

| im curious how many out there are what is now known as "multimedia artists"? in which music is just another clip in their arsenal that happens to very much coincide with other industries like video/film, animation, visual arts, etc... to me they are kinda all one in the same... same type mindset working on any of them. should i start another thread about this? if so, jules i think on this software you can snip this post and pop in as a new thread.

| I still consider myself primarily as guitarist, writer. But roughly 55% - 65% of my income has been coming from engineering. A little portion of that from producing as well. And this is my livlihood. The rest comes from playing and a smaller portion from teaching. |

| Yar, I cobble it together from working as a musician (trumpet/trombone), producer, engineer, songwriter, composer, bandleader (vox, brass), music teacher, web designer, and music publisher. I'm broke as ****, but I couldn't be more stoked about what I do.

| Lives for gear | Yeah, making a living... not sure it's quite a "good" living, but then again, I'm no workaholic either. I have a great family, and now, living in a great spot in Northern California. So, yeah, I make a nice living. Lately it's been a lot of mixing, but plenty of writing, producing, programming and keys playing in there too. I don't know what else I could stand to do if I wasn't doing music. |

| Full time producer/engineer/studio owner for ten years now. Pretty much doing folk/acoustic songwriter projects...assembling session folks to make fleshed out records for solo artists. I end up playing piano/hammond/accordion/percussion and bass a bit, too. It's the best job in the world, and our dog gets to go to work with me. He's got really good ears. -tom

| He'd love the sofa in my control room. It's frequently accused of being too comfortable. Dogs are always welcome at my place if they're nice! Our dog has his own website, too: www.joethedog.com. We were bored one Sunday afternoon...oh, and to keep this on topic, he's been a full time dog for nine years. -tom |

| I mostly produce and engineer. I have a part-time job at the local university accompanying modern dance classed on hand drums. I get paid to play for college girls in leotards. I also teach four students one day a week. I'm also a member of Wiplot, the laziest band in show business It's all music and I'm a happy guy!

| About 50/50 playing drums and freelance engineering. Been getting paid to play drums for about 18 years. Been getting paid to record people for about 8. Last studio staff engineering job was three years ago. Last non-studio day gig was about six years ago. It definitely has it's ups and downs, but I really couldn't be doing anything else. | Lives for gear | 100% engineer/studio owner... but I do have 2 degree's in music (jazz theory and jazz performance). I never really play much other than an hour of percussion and an hour of electric bass practice everyday to keep sharp. I do a fair amount of programming in my spare time as well.
