why you comment on people you know nothing about?
i think that you're just jealous that you (hungry and full of soul) can't afford such.
i don't think that his musick is soulless. try listening to his ANIMA or NAIMA albums. to me that's not sterile at all and is also not techno at all btw...no beats there...no "techno"

Hell yeah I am jealous. There are two kinds of people in this world: those that work constantly to obtain their dreams and those that are born wealthy enough to buy their dreams. It seems most "successful" musicians I meet are born rich and that is how they "make it".

I agree his music is excellent. He is very talented and I have heard some of his songs. I am an electronic musician as well so I can really appreciate how amazing his stuff is.

That still doesn't change the fact that you can't buy a single one of those synths with the proceeds off a hit techno record.

Ha! werd.

I could see the place as somewhere i'd like to work on a very limited basis. Would be right for certain kinds of music, or certain types of moods I might be in...but wouldn't be worth the dough just to cater to an occasional fancy.

All the sensitive guys around here in their late 20s started wearing scarves, regardless of weather. What's up with that? Are mid-life crises striking that much younger these days?

i find delay's studio to be among the most inspiring i've ever seen.. but, c'mon people.. we can't expect the rock-centric majority of GS to appreciate this sort of asethetic!

i know him personally, and i hope that everyone here, no matter what kind of music/vibe they're into, realizes that he takes his music and his gear very seriously.. and that's what this place is all about, right!?

no idea why so many messages in this thread contain the word "techno".
seems to me that no one heard his music anyway, but the less you know, the more you want to comment. after reading this thread i finally see how silly and vulgar this forum is.

no, i don't throw dirt on people, if i don't know anything about them.
and doing such thing on public seems even more improper to me.

but Vladislav Delay is not some generic minimal techno DJ. Selling records you cannot earn much, but playing concerts on festivals like Ars Electronica or Sonar can earn few thousand euro each to a known and progressive artist. and he's not known because he was rich, but because of the music he made. i think that most of his earlier stuff was made on computer + NI Reaktor, which doesn't seem snobbish to me, so . . .

anyway i'm happy that he has such gear, because he is using it and is creating great records with it. much happier than when i see such gear in a studio where crap MTV coke prostitutes do their records.

i think it looks great...and is a nice vibey place......different from others, of course....but to focus on programming in a daw and tweaking synths.....I think it´s excellent!!

now what´s this BS with sitting on the floor??? take second look, he´s sitting on a big cozy stool!
I especially like the white tidy custom desk with the screens tilted back (much less interference with monitoring) and the counter-sunk Avocet !!
plus he´s got a real hardware-meter (clever guy)

only the few pyramid foam pieces next to the front......no way!!! boooooohhh...must go

That scarf just f***king kills me. It's just a dead give away that this guy wants to look like some kind of rockstar / intellectual caricature.
Together with his serious look, he should grow a goatee a start stroking it. And quoting Kafka and Nietzsche while doing it.

Now give me the Cjewman and the Moog!

Does he use a sustain pedal with his knee?

I'll point out to you all another room that is white, and frequency control constructed; an isolation chamber in an insane asylum.

I guess maybe one could think of heaven or clouds as being "white" as well. Not me tho, especially being on the floor like that.

That room is sadomasochistic. The scarf wrapped around his neck proves it. He has to perfectly adjust and position the scarf to look cool whilst crawling around on hands and knees to use any of his gear.
