| duet to dynaudio bm5a monitors? i'm in the process of figuring out which monitors to pair with the duet...have read many posts here and elsewhere and still find myself confused. what i really want to hear is from people who use this combination, how are you dealing with the unbalanced 1/4" out from the duet to the XLR in on the dyns? i really want to avoid having to put something in between to remedy any potential noise problems. if the bm5as aren't the "right" (or ideal) to pair w/the duet, that's ok. just want to know in advance what works as is right out of the box...no special treatment/modifications of the cabling, etc. i know to go short on cable length, but will a simple TS-XLR or TRS-XLR be sufficient? if anyone can let me know specifics on brands of cable they use with this combination, that would be extremely helpful. i'm thinking monster or mogami. |

| I have a pair of BM5As that I use with my Ensemble... should pretty much be the same configuration, or at least logic would push me to think so. I run TRS to XLR into my monitors. No probs thus far, and I think they're great sounding monitors, best I've heard in the price range. |

thanks for the reply... i'm wondering though...aren't the ensemble's outs balanced vs. duet's unbalanced? not sure if that makes a difference as to which type of cables i use into the dyns (TS-XLR vs. TRS-XLR)... | |

| Hm, I guess you're right... just looked at the two manuals. I'll bump the thread because somebody who's a little more knowledgeable might want to chime in. I'd actually like to know the answer as well, as I'm a little new to all of this and despite understanding ENOUGH about balanced vs. unbalanced, I don't know it up and down. You could also email Apogee - they were pretty quick getting back to me when I contacted them once. |

| Email Apogee. I know many companies these days have pretty poor support but not so here. I have had great support. Give them a call and they will set you at ease. I have the Ensemble and all outs are balanced so I just use TRS to XLR.

| in case anyone else needs the info, apogee recommends using TS-XLR cables with the BM5As (which i happily just purchased today ) |
