pedals with amp plugins.

I apologize if this has been discussed before...but really, everything has been discussed before on this site. :)

Im one of those people who just does not use real amps. I use plugins. but I like to use certain pedals before the plugin amps because some pedals are just so much better then plugins (like my fuzz factory).

A lot of pedals need a real amp to react against in order to work properly. These are pedals I DONT want to buy.

any suggestions for pedals that are kick ass before a DI box and don't need an amp?

does it makes sense to use an overdrive pedal before a DI or is that illogical?
