Time to upgrade!

Hey sluterz!

I'm considering upgrading my set up and have looked at so many things from a/d converters to mics.. I'll run through my set up and then get on to what's going on inside my head! Scary..

Ok, so this is what I have at the moment and have been using it for a few years now:
-Motu 828MkII (plugs into PC)
-Behringer ADA8000 (plugs into 828mkII)
-Mics: NTK, NT1, Oktava MK012A matched pair, 1 Sennheiser e902, 3 Sennheiser e904, SM58, SM57, other misc dynamics.

So some things that have been floating around my head are - Avalon M5, M-Audio ProFire 2626, Focusrite ISA428, JoeMeek OneQ, Motu 828Mk3, Focusrite Octopre..

What I'm thinking is instead of putting all my eggs in 1 basket with the M5, I can sell off my current set up and go a 2626 and ISA428. Which will hopefully give me enough quality preamps to do tracking from vocals to drums. Then maybe look at getting a decent mono pre down the track, maybe an M5 (or are there other alternatives?).

So what does the general GS populus think?

If the 828 is working well (mine is) there is no real reason to replace it unless you need more IO than it has. Changing the ADA8000 to a Digimax FS is a good, cheap change. At least one great pre is a very good thing and overall mics are mics, it is the user that makes the difference and a lot depends on the style of music you generally record.
