High Pass Filter ?

Hellas,

I'm looking for a portable standalone outboard Highpass-Filter (and maybe Lowpass), something like the API 215 L, but in a smaller price league. Any suggestions ?
Did anyone compare analog Highpass Filters with Digital ones ?

Thanks and cheerios, kosi

Hi kosi,

Some of the warmest shelving eq's I've heard are the vintage Telfunkens!! Great bell curve, Punchy clear & round bass,
not boxy or muddy. I use these for any instrument tracking, mixing and MASTERING. Beautiful top and fat bottom

I picked these ones up for a bomb on Ebay.

W695
Pair of Telefunken W695 EQ's.
Frequencies are as follows:
Low - 60hz +/- 15 dB boost/cut,
High - 10kHz +/- 15 dB boost/cut,
Mid 0.7,1, 1.4, 2,3,(4)
(w695a 5.6) kHz , 8dB boost.

ELA E150
Pair of Telefunken ELA E150 EQ's.
Frequencies are as follows:
Low - 60hz +/- 15 dB boost/cut,
High - 10kHz +/- 15 dB boost/cut,

Plug in & play!!

I also believe the low/high shelving eq's of the Langevin DVC is a winner!!

thanks Wane, but I'm looking for a different animal.
I want to have a few adjustable frequencies, and all your little Teles are only 60 Hz.
By the way, I own also a pair of W695, which I love for their bass, but the 10k treble make my ears cry.
Most of the time, I use them as sidechain eqs for compressors.

I need a filter for these things: Turn up lets say100 Hz and cut it at 90, this gives me a little bump right at the corner of the lowpass and with finetuning, you get the sweet spot on a kick or whatever. nice thing.rollz
and for many things more....

greetings, kosi

As for the high-pass / low-pass thing these NTP-filters might do the job.

I often use them to shape the sound of an ambience track or the return from a reverb.

NTP 182-200
I don't know anything about the availability of these filters though...

yeah, looks very fine! I'll do some research, or do you want to sell yours ?
Anyway. I like the NTP stuff alot.
How are the 182/120 ? I have a pair of 182/150, which sound very nice, but one is always "kaputt"

Urei 555

I had a racked pair of Urei 555s that were great; I'd recommend 'em. -E
