Troy Germano from page 6

I thought you all might be interested in these comments re: Hit Factory. This stuff is also in line with what I have heard that he was written out of dad's will....leaving the operation to Mom.

From Page Six:
Love the "Prague" ref & also the last sentence.
February 7, 2005 -- THE Hit Factory wasn't "doomed by the digital revolution," as the Daily News reported. The fabled recording studio complex was "run into the ground" by the founder's widow, Janice Germano, her son Troy Germano tells PAGE SIX. "When my father, Ed Germano, died two years ago, my mother took over the company, and she ran it into the ground," Troy said. "This has nothing to do with digital technology. This was mismanagement of a crown jewel." Calls to Janice Germano were not returned. The Daily News reported that the building on West 54th Street, where John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie and Madonna cut their albums, is closing because "technological advances have made it cheaper and easier for stars to build their own state-of-the-art facilities, often in their own homes." But Troy — who worked for his father until his death after gastric bypass surgery — said his mother never provided the artists with the service they came to expect. "It's all about relationships with the artists. They don't know who she is," Troy said. "This never should have happened. I'm building studios here and in Prague. There has to be a place where Eminem can bump into Mick Jagger in the hallway."

I think that's at least half right.

Eddie certainly knew how to work the business and develop relationships, often with record company presidents, and keep the studio in the loop.
