| I've stuck to 24bit mainly because i can't hear a difference between 24bit and 32bit, and becuase the file size is alot smaller 88.2k @ 24bits is great Marshall

| Lives for gear | I always record at 32bit simply because I've got the disk space and from what I've understood from my discussions with Steinberg, there is virtually no chance of digital overs (as long as you are still careful of course). To me, nothing ruins a great performance more than one chord peaking an over. Honestly, I don't know all the math behind this but it doesn't hurt to be careful.

| No chance of overs Internaly that is, you still have to keep an eye on levels to your AD. Same as all digital things. but once your in the box, 32 bit bit allows more headroom for prosessing.

| I use 32 but I've been wondering lately if I'm just wasting my comps power maybe it's overkill? I suppose if one were mixing a lot of tracks it would make a difference when summing. ![]() |

| Personally 24bit but most of my music customers prefer 32 float. My main prob is compatibility with other DAWs. |

| No need to record at 32bit floating point. If you decide to mix in Nuendo then convert the files from 24 to 32. It's all about how Nuendo deals with the files after they've been recorded. More headroom for the Nuendo mixer, processing etc.. |

| Nuendo mixes at 32bit float internally so there is no need to manually convert your file of "x" bit depth to 32bit float. The only advantage I can see of recording 32bit float is if you are applying any sort of processing on the *input* channel (recording with an effect applied), or doing any sort of destructive offline processing. In those 2 cases then recording/converting the files themselves to 32bit float makes sense. Hope this helps. |
