D2B lt distorting

Hello all

I just bought a used Dangerous 2bus lt and did a quick check but it sounded like it was overloading or something. It sounded almost compressed and distorted. My quick check signal flow was.

Nuendo -> Apogee DA-> D2Blt -> D2Blt monitor out to-> ATC1 speakers via XLR

I need your help. What do you guys think the problem is ?

Thanks.

What kind of levels are you running in Nuendo?

For example, 64 tracks mixed to 16 outs with the faders all up at 0 will clip the outputs of the Apogee. Maybe that's what you're hearing.

Actually it was just a quick check at my friend's studio. We only had 2ch DA, so we were running some 2 track mixes of some material we were familiar with. We also had a 12ch Studer mixer and same signal didn't distort the Studer at all.

try turning down the input on your monitors. Sounds like your putting too much level into the speakers.
If you have no control over your CR monitoring level, then the result may be distorton coming from the high output of the D2B.

Otherwise, try to get some metering going.

Thanks guys, so it's not advisable to just connect a monitor speaker to the monitor out of the D2B ? Lol I need a passive volume control!
