Thread Starter | Amp Modeling Software w/ Outboard Pedals
Hey everyone. I read that Digidesign's Eleven claims to respond very well to a signal already put through a real outboard pedal, and this sparked a few questions for me: 1) Can anyone verify this? 2) Does it respond the same way real amps would respond or does it just respond differently in a weird way because the signal is different? 3) I have heard that a DI with an outboard pedal never sounds the way it was intended to sound. Is that true and is there a way around that? 4) Is Guitar Rig 3 supposedly responsive to pedals as well? Thanks. |

I've certainly found amp sims to sound better (or at least more realistic) if you add a pedal to the front end. I've yet to hear an amp sim that responds like a real amp but if you use a pedal you are asking the sim to do less work, which I think sounds better. Most of it (to my ears) is down to harmonic generation, computers are still really struggling to get that consistently pleasing in the way an amp can. |

Could you recommend anything as a good starting pedal to go along with the sim? I am looking into an Analog.man modded TS808.

I'm not a guitar player at all but pedals that can impart a little overdrive work well in my limited experience of amp sims. Things like a Boss SD1.
