Noooooo. These keyboards are too cool to put in a rack.

YEESSSSSSssss!!!!

The sounds are too cool to be locked in a keyboard.

Hell to be honest I would kill to have either. And I can't justify it one single bit. Pure lust.

Are there any pictures online yet? I can't find any, and the Moog site doesn't have a mention at all. I assume they took out the X/Y pad in order to fit that panel in 5U.

The other bummer is that the breakout box for the CV has a plug on the front to connect to the Voyager. Since this same plug will (I assume) be on the back of the rack-mount, one will have to run a thick-ass cable around the side of the rack to use the breakout, assuming you've racked the box.

That said, I'm waiting for this one with baited breath. The last thing I need in my studio is another keyboard (I have 18...) but now that it is racked, it looks like a viable option for me.

Okay, I've read 3 different psuedo press releases on this. The one at Sonic State is the most thorough (for a change of pace; they're usually the least useful of the news sites) and it says that the pad is gone.

No big deal, really. That's what MIDI CC are for, and it'd be kind of odd on a rack unit, anyways. Boy, I'd like to see a pic and price of this, though. I bet it's going to come down at around $2500 or so.

No - the expander also rackmounts, right next to the CP-251, which would be PERFECT! The cable stays behind.

And there's the rub. If you examine the expander box pictures on the Moog site, you'll note the DB-whatever connector is on the _front_ of the unit. One assumes that the corresponding connector on the synth is on the _back_, like on the normal Voyager.

Thus, thick-ass cable running around your rack, from the back of the synth to the front of the expander, assuming you rack-mount it, like I said. This is all conjecture, of course. When we see pics of the Voyager Rack, we'll know WTF they did.
