How make that disco sound?

Hi guys,

I am wondering, how one can make that typical disco sound like for example Daft Punk had in One more time? I mean those horns, violins and maybe even piano?

I know they sampled it but I don't want to go over 1000 disco records to find 3 chords that fit my song... How could one make that sound with synths or real samples?

Thanks guys!
Regards
Lorenzo

Disco was a bad word once upon a time, but man, some of those records had great production. All with real strings, real horns, real arrangements and some real badass players. You could re-create all of this as sampled sounds are pretty amazing these days and you could study/copy the arrangements ..but I'd suggest you get your head in that record crate, my good man as every other "mutant disco" dance producer does ! enjoy !

:-) I am afraid that's just what I might have to do :-/
And I agree that some of those arrangements were bloody good!

"One more time" has somekind of Lo-Fi/Bitcrusher thing on the sample. Which IMHO makes it easier to make a "programmed sample" sound as a "real" sample. Perhaps it might help out a bit.

Fully agree with Adam on the production/players of the disco era.

If you follow Adams advice to dig thru your collection this link will save you a lot of trouble, and money. Juding from their examples their sure know what they´re doing.
