If I track in PT 6.4, can you import and mix in 7.4?

Hey guys.

Just wondering if you would be able to import my session tracked in pro tools 6.4 into a newer version of PT 7.4 for mixing.

I would of course leave the tracks dry with no plug-ins to avoid problems in the mixing process.

If this is not possible, what would be the best option?

I just don't have the funds right now to pay for tracking, mixing, and mastering. I also don't want to pay to upgrade to the newer version of PT. Thanks to you guys, all of my funds have been going to the "lunchbox mania", currently taking place. haha.

Thanks

Denny: I'm actually on a pc, but if I were to send it someone with a mac, isn't there a box to check for going from pc to mac? I think there is. Thanks!!!

Yes, in 7 they got rid of the compatability session switch. It's still there in
6.x ...

If you didn't create the project directory with the compatability switch
turned on, you can create a new session folder using File -> Save Copy In...

and make sure to check "Copy Audio Files" and the compatability switch.

I usually do this any way when sending session files out to make sure
I haven't stranded any audio that was imported but not copied.

Then it will go nicely into 7....
