Thread Starter | Trying to find a replacement speaker... pics included
I've got this old 60's amp that came with a vintage mellosonic stage organ I got off of craigslist. I use it to play guitar and bass through for recording. It had an amazingly warm... full round tone to it but it's crapping out now... I think one of my friends was playing way too loud in it and blew it. It's rattling pretty bad when I play some deep bass through it. Anyway, I'm trying to find a replacement speaker for it that will give me the same warm tone. Anyone know what speaker this is? or what would be a good replacement. The amp is real simple and doesn't even have a volume knob... just one level. It's a 12" speaker... the amp is 30watts. I'll just be using it to record bass in my home studio. ![]() ![]() |

For warm vintage tones my favorite speakers are the Celestion Alnico Blue or Greenback, but they are 15 and 25 watts respectively. So you'll probably run into the same problem, especially playing bass. Perhaps the Alnico Gold? It's 50 watts and designed to sound like the Blue. Anyone tried it? |

| I'd flip though an Eminence catalog. Eminence - The leader in guitar speaker tone. Upgrades for Celestion, Jensen and Fane. -tINY |
