C24 and PTLE ???

I have not heard of anybody useing PTLE and a C24. Is it even possible ? Will it effect my CPU power? or is it totaly over kill for a LE system ?? I am useing a G4 2x1.25Ghz with 2Gb RAM...

Right now I am just looking for something to control my PTLE rig. And I want it to look more pro than just a computer and a mouse. And I work better with real buttons and faders than with the mouse....

I know many people that use a C24 with PTLE, including myself, works fine. You won't be able to use all of the pres though

Its just a big control surface with some built in preamps. It shouldn't effect you computer at all because it is just using Midi signals. Since your 001, or 002 only has 8 analog in's you can only use 8 preamps unless you buy an AD converter to utilise the adat I/O.

If you are using an M-box you can only use 2 preamps or inputs at a time.

Personly i'd spend the money elsewhere like on an analog console such as a Studer 161(?) or something. It will sound better, and give you nice eq's too. I'd concentrate on sounding more professional than looking more professional.

fwiw -- i was told by a digi rep that the control protocol used by the c24 and command8 aren't actually midi, but a proprietary protocol. i was told it provides better fader resolution.

the C24 connects via ethernet. I use a G5 and it has not effected my computer one bit.
