I need to replace my JUNK Alesis poer amps, and I'm considering an amp by Carvin. 1000 watts two channels for $320.

I have a carvin DCM 2000 and it works good for me. Never had any problems with it, sounds good, and has a built in limiter.

I am using one right now to power a pair of NS10s-the DCM1500. No problems here.

i've not used a Carvin amp before, but you should also consider Adcom. we have a 555 and a 535. got them both for about a hundred bucks each on eBay. i've been told that they are a big step up from "JUNK Alesis" power amps.

I've heard good things about Hafler, but I'm very concerned with reliability right now. I do not want to go through this again. Are they reliable?

1000W, sounds like a PA amp. How loud are the fans on that thing?

Which Alesis amp do you have and what did you do to it?

I've had no problems with my Hafler 9505 (pushing Dynaudio BM15's)

funny,

I have an RA500 and I need to up-grade too...for some reason the balanced ins don't work on one side...only the unbalanced...

I use JBL LSR32's ...so I need some power to get them singing ...

what to get for under 1k???

I'll probably need two though...

so, maybe a good solution for 1.5K might be the best option...???

I have a lot of Haflers here. IMHOP they are the best mid priced amps, i.e. not in the Bryston class....

I have a 15 year old P500 that is one of the best amps I ever owned. If yuou see one buy it. If you don't want it tell me. I have it on my main Ns 10s and have had comments for years as to how good they sounded.

I also have a P2500 in the second room on NS10s with the Hafler powered sub....sounds great, and a 1200 on headphones.

Thes amp have run for several years with no problem.

I have heard some tales of Hafler reliability issues....but my personal; experience has been great product for the money. I'd buy another in a minute.
