Thread Starter | AD on the ISA 428.....decisions....
Question for you all. I am in the middle of doing some reorganizing of my rig. I want 8 channels of ADAT pre.... so I was thinking of selling my 428 for and audient 008. But after doing a bit more thinking, I figure getting another 428 would be better if the AD was ok. Any thoughts on the converters? Thanks a ton! |

I have the ISA 428 and AD card and it totally rocks. You cannot go wrong with this setup. I use a Neumann and a blueberry through it and it is real clean.

I've been told that the A/D is almost identical to that in the Digidesign 192 I/O Interface which is not a bad thing at all... Sure it ain't not apogee or mytek but its still spose to be up towards that end in terms of quality.

Can't agree more...I've got mine with an API 3124 thru the other four ADs clocked to a BIG BEN....started to get very proud of my recordings....!!!!! Once I did borrow another 428 (without digi bord) to use with my own...it worked great....but kept looking @ the front of the borrowed one and thinking "don't need all those xtra bits on the Right front" hence went for API Maybe ƒƒ shood bring out a 428 with no Digi option to augment existing 428...cheaper...might sell more 428's |

I have the a/d card for the 428 and it's very nice. However I would get the card for the 428 you have, and four more pre's of another flavor, instead of another 428. The 428 pre is a nice neutral tight sounding pre, but you'll get more color AND Detail with something like a GR MP2-NV, API ect. |

Yeah, I like the (optional) converters on the 428... And as you know, you can analog-piggyback any other type of pre's into your 428 and use its card to ADC up to 8 channels... Go for different flavors...
