RealTraps introduces new GoboTrap system

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RealTraps Debuts GoboTraps--an affordable yet capable gobo system. (Photos below)

New Milford, CT, USA--December 14, 2004--RealTraps has announced their new GoboTrap system consisting of a light-weight carriage with wheels that accommodates either standard or "Gobo" MiniTraps. The traps are stacked sideways on the carriage to create a gobo that's four feet wide, and two or three traps can be attached for a total height of either four or six feet. The GoboTrap carriage hovers very low to the floor to minimize sound leakage under the traps, and the wheels are large enough to roll easily on thick carpet or over wires.

Either standard MiniTraps or newer specially designed GoboTraps may be used with the GoboTrap carriage, depending on the application. To create an acoustically dead sounding area or an enclosed booth within a larger space, or for use as a large portable absorber to change the liveness of a room, you'll use standard MiniTraps. For maximum isolation, perhaps to surround a drum set or loud instrument amplifier, GoboTraps are more appropriate.

GoboTraps are available in standard and HF versions. Standard GoboTraps are absorbent on one side and reflective on the other, where the HF type is absorbent on both sides. Both are built with an internal MDF barrier to provide sufficient mass to effectively block sound from passing through. GoboTraps are sold in a variety of configurations-as a package including two or three MiniTraps or GoboTraps, as GoboTrap panels only, or as the carriage alone for use with existing MiniTraps.

Complete details and photos are on the RealTraps web site www.realtraps.com. Also at the RealTraps site are articles and videos offering room treatment advice, tutorials showing how to solve common acoustic problems, and a detailed explanation of acoustic product testing methods.

RealTraps is owned by Ethan Winer and Doug Ferrara. Ethan is known throughout the industry for his many technical articles in audio and computer magazines, and he has engineered and produced several classical music CDs including a recording of his own cello concerto. Ethan also moderates the Acoustics forum at www.musicplayer.com. Doug is a professional musician who has operated a recording studio for more than twenty years. Besides audio and recording, Doug holds an advanced degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic and has been a systems engineer for Intel and Motorola.

Ethan,

The link you posted seems to default to the European Pricing page.

Could you give us some idea of US pricing?

Stone,

Really? Geez, it's not supposed to do that! Did you see a page with only a few paragraphs that says, "If you are outside of Europe then you are seeing this page in error. Please email us for prices and shipping information." ?

We just switched the way pricing is displayed based on location, so anyone here who is in the USA and who has the same problem, please let me know by email. Sorry for putting you through the hassle of having to email me, but I need to know if this is a real problem or just a one-time mix-up.

Thanks.

Frost,

> no gobo with a window? <

Believe me, we've thought of that. Our goal was to keep it simple and affordable. We may offer a version with a window as an option in the future.

Thanks.
