Question Linkin Park Guitar Recording Techniques?

I've been trying to search for articles with producer Don Gilmore and his techniques on getting those OUTRAGEOUSLY thick Rectifier guitar rhythm tracks -- does anyone have that information?

I'm mainly interested in how many stereo tracks they recorded to get that kind of a sound (and hell, even what microphones they used and what was in the chain).

My guess....

Start with a bad ass Mesa Boogie rig....

Find volume point where speakers excurse on amp head...

Take 1 SM 57 and sweep speaker to find what yer lookin' for...

quad track the performance...

i was watching some videos of them recording online and they used ibanez guitars with hotrodded pickups and ibanez pedals..but i couldn't see which.

I don't know if they just mentioned this on the video because of a sponsorship or because they were a major part of the sound. One of those grey ibanez pedals that is plasticky and never stays down gave me some sick drive on one project i worked on a while ago.

boogies marshalls as far as heads go....shure beta 57s actually..thats it...use a little labs pcp and blend to taste...seriously thats it....not dropping names or trying to sound cool but the engineer is a bud..no big secrets out there justt how you twist the knobs and where you put the mics really. good luck

Its more of a tribute to Andy Wallace than anything.

Hybrid Theory and especially Meteora has the Andy W. mixed guitar sound all over it.
