Yeah, I'll be there with my buyer's badge on. I've got a few minutes of business to conduct for the store, and then I'm buyin' for ME. Oh, and I'll be happy to buy a couple rounds for any gearslutz that care to meet up. Gear & beer - it don't get much better than that.

I went a couple of years ago [I went to meet with some people at Apogee to get better training on the 'AD-8000']... fortunately, I had friends in Nashville so I didn't have to spend more than like 2 'half days' at this thing. It has about as much to do with "pro audio" as "McDonald's University".

Most of what I saw there was a collection of abso-****ing-lutely useless crap... from 'sparkly drum sticks' to other dumbass items.

Understand that NAMM, winter or summer, is really geared toward "music merchandisers"... the 'Mom and Pop" music stores where you get sheet music and reeds for your kids' music lessons... not any kind of serious "audio" stuff.

Yeah, there are a couple "pro audio" manufacturers there [some way more "pro" than others!!], but they're really there to try to expand their 'dealer roster'.

So... if you know people in Nashvegas... and feel like wasting a couple days hanging with friends (while writing off the trip as a "business expense"), then it's worth going. If you're going there to pick up information about "audio hardware"... stay home, read the 'forums'... and save the money...

As always... YMMV.

im not going for the show... but big briar [MOOG] im sure will be there hopefully with that synth completed... although i can just go down the street anytime to see that. im HOPING that the mackie control will be there with MOTU but im not counting on them being there. werent there last year.

actually there is some cool shit there, "pro" or not... and some of it didnt have "booths" but was carried around in backpacks [VERY cool shit]... at least there was last year. and a LOT of shit you need in the studio they do have there but isnt your high end stuff but rather small necessities that you would like to touch and check out before you order something of that nature. also, last year i got to check out some stuff [because of the low attendance] on a long personal basis. RADAR demo was great, the guy was the tits on the system and i sat there for an hour or more going over tons of shit that i had questions about. SO MUCH better than say going to a store having some lackey try and demo it for you.... and better than playing with it at home. i learned more in 15 minutes than i could figure out on my own in a week. funniest demo was the TC SYS6k which the rep didnt really know how to work it much. i took over the ICON and figured that bitch out quick and was pulling insane shit out of it... the rep had some other person listening to what i was doing with it and muttered to them "well, you wouldnt normally do something like that with the unit" **** yeah i would. the pitch shifter is amazing on it.

My AES trip kinda depends on a chum of mine in LA...

If they relocate to London, and there is nothing special tech wise on offer I need to check out, I may decide to skip it for $$$ reasons.. However, I will be walking the streets of NYC before the year is out, thats for sure.
