ableton live VS logic pro 8

hey there

not sure if this is the right to post this, but here goes..

I currently use LOGIC PRO 8 but am a little fed up and have heard that the LIVE sound engine and summing is way better.

any thoughts???

thanks

Let's put aside the sound quality stuff since nobody has the same hardware when they make comparisons... the two are very different animals (same for Reason) I see some very creative work being done with the combination of all of them, each doing what it is best at. I thought the idea of software tools was to simplify your life so you could be free to create. Expecting any 1 to be the "be all end all" doesn't seem any more reasonable than limiting yourself to one microphone or one preamp...

Well I recently challenged myself to write an album in two months and used Logic for some tracks Live for others. For me (and it is a personal thing relevant to the way I work) I wrote far more quickly in Live. I’d say I got ideas up and running and edited in a third of the time. I know both DAWs well and could just get stuff done in fewer clicks in Live. I don’t find the sound quality to be different though. I do love some of the Logic’s plugins though and am always using it. Logic can be a very stable and powerful beast but I think for most people it does way more than it needs to. Live fills a niche. The other thing to note is that Live is really two DAWs in one, the session view whih is popular for DJs and the arrange which is more conducive of traditional DAWs.
