http://www.palmone.com/us/products/smartphones/treo650/

I'm using the Erickson bluetooth phone, but now that the treo has it , i may go for it

I wish Apple would roll out some kinda all in one phone/organizer/ipod

Yeah, this is the baby if you are on a Mac..

I posted on GS and sent & recieved emails on my 600 while out tonight for dinner at my sister in laws......

Does it have STEREO audio?

That would make it AWESOME!

The camera is kinda crappy, especially in low light, dont tell me the 650 has a flash built in!

Hmmmmm..

I don't dig the 'clip on' keyboard idea... I just dropped my Treo, it survived, but I wouldnt like to drop a phone with a 'clip on'...

I don't like that it doesnt come "Mac ready"... OK additional software will do it. but......

yeah, didn't try it with the keyboard, but i prefer using the stylus anyhooo. that's what's putting me off the Treo.... no grafiti.(unless I'm missing something) I can't even begin to use the keyboard on the Treo. lame.

From what I've heard first hand about the mac emulatioln....it kiks ass. solid as can be.

we'll see!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Hooooooooooooooooooooo!!

Just got my Treo 650

Schweeeeeeet!

Man - Just downloaded my fave Stones tracks -

I swear, hand on heart - this - with the stock dweeby cheapo black stereo earpiece that comes with the phone sounds WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY better than my Ipod! Sharper top end / clearer - no "I got to fidddle with this for days to get the bass right" BS ...

I recon the wife will get the Ipod, me, I am shopping for the biggest memory card I can find for it!

And a phone call just kicks off the Mp3 - so you dont mis a thing!

Gil from wave has had one for a while & digs his.. Gil - I have SEEN THE LIGHT

AWE-SOME!

I am a big monthly plan type of person so I got this this for free + 500 SMS texts per month - free... (Orange UK) I still have my old one as back up..

Now if I can just get my email SENDING sorted out, I will be set!

Cool.

I've had one for about 3 months. Great phone!

I sync with the PC via USB and my Mac via Bluetooth - Roving calenders and contacts.

You've got to get one of these: http://www.jabra.com/JabraCMS/EM/EN/...abraBT250v.htm

Fantastic!

I've had mine for a number of months, too. Works great on both sides of the pond, and in Asia too, for that matter. I use Good software (www.good.com) that gives it Blackberry capability.

Only complaint is that it only has 24MB of on board memory, and it fills up fast. There are some apps that won't run from the SD card...

Bluetooth is nice, too.

Cool tips!

Whats the point of running it like a Blackbury?

I want a 1gig memory card - is there a bigger one available?

Well, it gives me push instead of pull technology--as soon as someone sends me an email and it hits the company server, it hits the Treo. I can read, download attachments, forward to others, file it in other folders, and it's automatically synchronized with my laptop. In other words, if I move an email from "Inbox" to "Dead Letters" folder, or delete it, it's automatically moved/deleted when I get back to the office. No need to do it twice.

As for SD cards, check this out:

as long as you do your audio gear deals on it, your all right!

I just got a 600 a couple weeks ago. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the 650 (within the 30 day period). Jules, is there that big of a difference besides bluetooth and mp3s. I really needed remote email without carrying my laptop around everyday and it's been fantastic for that. I also got mine on closeout for $200 less than what I would pay for 650.

As far as SD cards, I think they make a 2 gig card. There is a lot of good info on treocentral.com

I am finding this more confusing to use than my 600.. but am willing to invest the time to learn it..

Things 650 cant do that the 600 cant

Mp3's - Stereo headphones suppied sound great IMHO (I like this)
Blue tooth (my Ibook doesnt have it )
Ability to record and play back video mpeg's (a music promo, feature film, home movie etc)
Java - so you might be able to do fancy things like internet banking that use Java security measures (if you are lucky)
Has a swapable battery - so if you are in a situation (like out all day & heavy usage) you could slam in a spare battery and keep going... (I like this and will be buying one)
Doucument software - ability to store & keep Word documents and see them (I like this)
better screen (good for my eyesight in my old age, the new screen is a big improvement!)

now.. the build of the 600 was v robust.. the 650 seems a little more er... fragile.. and it is a few mm deeper.. its slightly more of a brick in your pocket although just now on the kitchen scales I couldnt really detect a weight difference..

VERDICT - I suggest that if none of the above functions gets you all excited, stick with the 600 and wait for the NEXT generation 700's

I got mine free in an upgrade package, I have ordered:

1 x spare set of headphones
1 x spare charger (1 for work 1 for home) it uses ALL DIFFERENT CABLES TO THE 600
1 x 2 Gig memory card (approx $160)

As soon as I get all my Stones & Beach Boy tunes on it I will be happy, heck after Live8 I recon I beetter get some of The Who on there!

I dropped my m505 a few years ago on a concrete floor. baaaad stuff. Sent it back to Palm and got a deal on an m550 Tungsten T.

I'm waiting for a Palm model to come out with 802.11g wireless connectivity.

The only thing that makes me want the 650 is it's compatibility with TomTom Navigator. I have a friend in Minneapolis with that GPS software on his PocketPC and it's simply amazing to watch. http://www.tomtom.com/

Is a 700 in the works?

Gil of Wave distribution is a 650 owner and also wants that 802.11g wireless connectivity, talking to him....he recons a special MM card will alow it soon for the 650 and that it will be built into the 700..

Watch this space

I think a 'vibe' I am getting for the future is internet phone calls... by that I mean folks are looking forward to thier phones detecting and latching on to the CHEAPEST connection method available be it a cel phone network, GPRS, Blue Tooth, 802.11g, Internet phone and saving the user money...

Some of the Treo forums make my head spin but they are interesting (to me)

You ever tried Skype?
Free internet to internet calls and for a small charge you can dial land lines too.

www.skype.com

I'm trying to find the correct script to connect my Motorola V551 to my Palm for BlueTooth internet but I think I got wind that Cingular or Motorola broke the capability with the V551 and others so they could maximize profits. Basically I'd like to use my GPRS to connect, then bluetooth over to my Palm and surf while I walk. I can do it at home on my main computer but just not on my cell phone. Real bummer. That's the other reason I want a 650 .... perhaps it works better with my cell phone.

I think on various Treo forums you will find you are not alone in your ambitions...

they crack codes in the phone, post fixes & unlock codes...

http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ighlight=skype

Have a search around..

That thread you pointed me to certainly underscores how us Palm users are in the minority. Seems like everything I buy is not what anyone else has or supports. aarrrgh.

You mentioned your iBook doesn't have bluetooth.
Here's an adapter that may help...
I have one on my mac at home. All you need is a spare (powered) USB port.
It's recommended at the Apple site, too.

I'm now a very happy Blackberry user. Dosen't have all the bells and whistles as the Treo, but it's rock solid as a biz machine, the way it handles email, web, and the phone just buries the treo all the way around. the bluetooth works great, just wish I could sync via bluetooth.

I do not know if it is available not only in Germany, but this is my new phone:

http://www.t-mobile.de/shop/handy/1,...-0-1-0,00.html

I don't mind its size, it fits for me.

By the way: Mobile phones seem to be the only thing where men argue about who has the smallest one... *ggg*

Diggin' my Blackberry 7290 here, as well.

I have since moved on to the Blackberry 8700.

While the 7290 was cool, this one is much cooler. Plus it actually has a very functional speaker-phone.

The 7290 had this stupid aluminum bezel around the screen that finally peeled off. I tried super-glueing the damned thing, but grew tire of it coming apart and just ripped it off. Argghh.

Much happier with my new purchase.

I'm digging the Blackberry 8100 Pearl.
It has all the functionality I need- Email, Internet, Voice Dialing, Bluetooth and such.

The Mac sync is great with a free download from RIM.

The main thing for me is it is now larger than a regular mobile phone- the larger RIM devices are too large for me.
