Not sure what you mean by the 'whole lot' but I search for this feeling when I'm producing.

It's one of my benchmarks, if my hairs are standing up either the band is doing something right, or I am

Things that make the hairs go -

- Great lyrics that I identify with
- A soaring melodic hook
- A genius musical arrangement that blows me away

Cheers,
Rich

Yup, indeed.
A terrific, emotional performance is a boon to this, too.
See Johnny Cash' performance of 'Hurt', the Trent Resnor song.He was obviously feelin' it when he recorded this track.

I second what RichT said except for the part about "Or I am"

I have never been able to make my own hairs stand.

Talent has and new gear can....what I do is to predicable to be exciting.

Stick a finger into the tube socket of your favorite preamp.

I think the arrangement kinda built a little bit... that probably helped.

Y'know...I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think the mastering (Vlad) added to this. No, I'm not in favor of 'artistic mastering', but I think it added to this affect.

But yeah. To each his own, I s'pose.

anyone know some science behind this....?

usually hair standing up signifies fear,

so it's some kind of adrenalin rush,..

I think for me it has to have an emotional aspect..

interesting...
