LA610 Question

Is it possible to use the compressor only or do you always have to go through the preamp? I was curious if I can use the compressor on it with other pres I have. I looked at the manual and was not very clear.

Thanks,

Hi Rob!

You can only use the Compressor with the Preamp, not separately...

Cheers

Kai

I like to connect my pacifica pre into the LINE input of my LA-610. Crank the Gain, bring up the level to get signal, then adjust the compressor.

don't worry about it, turn your tube drive back so not color you signal, and compress and e.q. away! works well.

I disagree. I think the compressor on this is very usable. Any engineer worth his salt could get this compressor to work. Sure, it's not my first choice in most situations, but if this is all that I had, I could get some great sounds out of it.

Very useable?

The compressor is more than that...compared to a LOT of compressors on the market. And it sounds FINE run into the line input "after the fact". really, the part of the circuitry that missing compared to an LA2a is the input tube amp section...which is what the 610 circuit subs for here.
