My First Run In With Mercenary Audio

I normally wouldn't do this, but I really have to tell this story.

I work for a company out in LA, a company who is constantly buying gear. We've basically ordered from every company on the planet (well maybe not but you get the idea), ordering everything from cables to apogee converters.

About 2 weeks ago I needed to get the awe-inspiring Funk Logic DD-301 Digilog Dynamicator. I decided to give mercenary a try, being as I had heard many good things. Placed my order, and waited for the UPS guy.

Couple days later i got an email from Jay Fitz, saying that sorry he hadn't contacted me earlier, but there was a delay in my delivery. I thought to myself before reading farther, "hey that's cool that they let me know, as opposed to hoping I wouldn't notice". Then to my dismay, he wrote that I was getting a free mercenary T-shirt for the trouble!! What???!? a company who actually is going to give me stuff instead of telling me to F@ck off...sweet.

So a few days later 2 packages came for me. One was my funk logic, the other was the T-shirt (in the requested size I might add) and to my surprise a pair of ear plugs with a cool mercenary audio holder.

Then just this past friday, got the invoice in the mail....was supposed to be 53.50....to my shock....40 bucks!!

Maybe most of you are used to this amount of service, but I sure wasn't and it was a nice change.

Congrats Mercenary, you know have a returning customer! And hopefully next time it'll be for more than a panel.

Then, you were even more pleased to find that your Digilog Dynamicator had such a low noise floor.

You know, it's hard to find a bad setting on those.

Wait until you hear the digital version. AES or lightpipe in, pure analog silence out.

Unbelieveable.

When stuff is really late we throw in the shipping too... glad to hear you were pleased, just another day at the office from our perspective.

Peace.

Ik ben het helemaal met jouw eens

I ordered form mercenary as well - Great experience.

There was a problem with my credit card and they called quickly to get corrected info. Additionally, I specified 240 volt adapter for the RNP - They also called to confirm that that was correct.

Unfortunately, I was unavailable to take the call and when I called back and said my name, they knew exactly who I was and everything was confirmed and the order came quickly. And, I'm not sure if this was part of the service, but I think that they had set the power supply for my Lil Labs Multi-Z to the 240V setting.

Cool shop, cool gear and without question excellent staff.

Fletcher,

Just an observation for you to investigate, as you know I have bought alot of stuff from Mercenary over the last year and had 10000% great service, but.....

Whenever I order something FEDEX take an age to get it to me and usually with some usually lame excuse, the average time for deliveries from you to me usually take between 7 - 10 days...

You may want to have a word with Fedex..

Cheers and keep up ithe great service..

I have always had great customer support at Mercenary.

Fletcher has saved my ass numerous times.

Bottom line:

Long term thinking. They want you to be a customer for life.

Banjo Center and Sam's Ass doesn't think like that. That's why they hire kids who don't know shit and have no intention of selling gear forever.

Mercenary just gets it.

And that's why they always get my business.

Unfortunately they don't sell Pro Tools or they could have made about $50,000 more from me.

Peace

The best thing about Mercenary...
better than knowledgeable/helpful staff...
better than the customer service...
better than the gear itself...
the T-shirts!

I saw a guy at Bumbershoot in a Merc shirt, through a throng of thousands of people, and I knew immediatley it was a Merc shirt.

All that Crane Song stuff I bought...and the Gefells and Earthworks...the Great River, the Royer...I won't even mention FMR and Funk Logic...and not one measley little T-shirt. Shoot, I've got so many Mercenary earplugs I've been giving 'em away at every recording session...

But yeah, they do give great customer service!!

Well...

...my Mercenary story involves two strippers,

...two bottles of tequila,

...and uh,

...well, let's just say in the end...

...I got a medium tee + earplugs too.

And was a very happy customer.

Thanks Fletch!!! You're the best.

Shit, I was expecting someone would diss them for the very first time. Not that I would! It just sounded that way from "my first run-in"...

When I can afford what they sell I'll give them a try!

My first run-in with Fletcher was when I saw that ADAT on a stick - great gesture!

I have purchased a few things from Mercenary and they have always been great. Before I purchased anything, I was sent a "four food groups of recording" t-shirt. This really endeared me to the company and its sense of humor---led from the top, I suppose.

For items large and small, everything has been
"as specified, as delivered."

I like that they double the warranty and give good service. I will always be willing to pay to deal with professionals.

Moreover, I admire a company that does not like to sell
Chinese junque.

Not to kiss Fletcher's ass anymore:

But I'm constantly being asked what Mic Pre, EQ, Compressor, Microphone to buy.

I just send them to Mercenary.com

If they don't carry it. You don't want it.

(Excluding software of course)

After posting this the other day I received a PM from Samara over @ Mercenary. She consoled my sadness by informing me a T-shirt was indeed on the way... I opened the package (which showed up overnight mind you) to find not just one... tutt ... but two shirts in there... both my size!

That's what I call hospitality... big thanks to the Captain and Crew of the good ship "Mercenary"!!!!!

I didnt have a great experience with MA- Order arrived missing parts and it took several emails and calls to finally get it right.....No tee shirt for me either... No biggee though- I save enough money with the pimp I use to buy lots of earplugs.... Obviously, YMMV....
I'm not trying to be a troll, but thought that at least someone who wasnt thrilled with MA should chime in, so I did.

Now, that you ruined the show ...
There won´t be a third purchase at Mercenary for me either.
Unless I had too much cash in the moment while noone else had the desired item on stock.

After posting here I got PMs from Fletcher & Samara and guess what showed up right before Thanksgiving? 3(!!) T shirts - my girl already claimed one, but I still have a choice of Mercenary Ts for those oh so special occasions. Oh, and they even included some more earplugs...

Mercenary definitely rocks!
