rme word clock vs Apogee (mackie d8b version)

Until now haven't really payed attention to the word clock source, since not really happy with the mackie d8b AD converters, we purchased the 2 rme (hammerfall) octamics with the digital option.

My question is - which source should I use as a master clock - the rme 96/52 word clock, or the mackie digital d8b optional word clock (powered by apogee).

I really have to make this desicion fast, since some work lies ahead already tomorrow. I would really appreciate if any of you would give me advice.

Thank you already in advance.

I tend to use the RME 9652 clock over the d8b's Apogee clock...but that's my room, my ears most of the time, etc...

Its real easy to A/B them, so you may just want experiment to decide yourself.

I don't think there is a "best" setup - each way has its ups and downs...but either way, invest in a decent T bar and cables for best results if you decide to add another piece to the chain.

The Mackie User Forums has a great deal of good information about your exact setup.
