I am working ITB so post your tricks on mixing, usage of plugs , outboards and everything that You came up with and it is on your every project.

Let me go first then.

I've developed some vocal 'tricks' over the years in search for larger than life pop harmonies. One of them is doubling some of the vocal harmony parts with two or more vocoder parts (where the modulator is another take that doesn't have 100% match with any of the other tracks) and blending it slightly with the rest of the vocal tracks and giving them a nice multiband bus compression with some cut bottom (below ~200hz) and boosted tops (at around 16k). Can be very nice and lush.

Of course the trick works better if your harmony arrangement is good to begin with :)

Adding to the previous, I never use the vocoded parts before I've got a full stack of voices (usually 6 parts 6-8 tracks each) first. Unless of course you want it to sound vocoded.

I was thinking about trying the vocoder idea out...That's cool that you get good results with it.

Here's another vocal trick: ampfarm the lead vocal with a low-distortion setting and blend it back in with the original. It works like an exciter.

Instant doubletrack. If you have an good vocalist, and an Antares ATR-1 box, record two tracks. I sent Mic --> pre--> split however you want, one side directly to a record track, the other through the Antares unit, and to a track. Pan em til you hear a good chorusey sound. The tracks I was getting were sounding similar to Patrick Monahan on doubled sections. Not a huge trick, but it's kinda cool. As for settings, something like 10 and 24-28.

It has been said that we need a 'best of' archive...

Perhaps something to look into for the future...

Fear not, seek and ye shall find!

I agree Jules . There is a point in having good stuff in a place where it is going to be easy to find them , and that was exactly my point . But new plugs are here , approaches too …
new ideas also . Don’t get me wrong , I am not new to production work , but believe me you can learn something new from someone that you least expect .
