Looks like somebody put it together after parting a console out. Pretty cool.

Cheers ! Neve custom built it for some broadcaster- one channel of 1064, patchbay & "wooden end cheek" ! That square plate on the top right unscrews and you can drop a compressor straight in (looking for one of those..). The external PSU is the size of a small child ! Mic in, fader up..there's your vocal sound.. |

I recommend a shout out at Rec.Audio.Pro newsgroup.... You can do it via Google.. That might unearth the most responces for you....

I might be wrong but I always thought it was a demo model for showfloor and in studio product demonstrations. A shout at Geoff Tanner over at rap should definitely clear all mysteries about that baby's origin... With a 2254 fitted in, it sure gives the old VT737 a run for it's money! |

Little "consoles" like that were made by Neve for the Metropolitan Police (and no doubt MI5) and were used to transcribe and clean up recordings made on small portable recorders like a Nagra onto another machine (probably a Revox). I used to make single channel demo units for later consoles like 8108, 28 and 51 series. I even wound my own ac transformer to power the 51 series with its multitude of power rails.
