Seperation in the low end of mixes.

Do subs help you guys out...or do they really just spoil you?

Lately im noticing a lot things for example synths and toms are creating a lot of subharmonics down there.

I'm getting pretty picky lately, but it's hard to separate these sounds in the low end. You guys have any techniques? Does a professional mastering job help at all for this kind of thing?

I struggle keeping the low end clear also. I've been noticing very subtle tweaks make quite a difference in the way the overall bass hits. Scooping out 1-2 db or even lowering the vol 1-2 db
