Acoustic guitar?

ADK Hamburg.

Electric guitar?

Heil PR30.

Both are excellent all purpose mics and stand outs in their class.

As only mic for accoustic or electric guitar and voice, i would choose Audio Technica's AT4040.

For electric, check out the cascade fathead. I was very impressed by the sound of it, for the price.

I'd do a Shure SM-7b or EV RE-20 (the EV is a bit smoother/softer/rounder, where the SM-7b is a bit punchier and more forward...both will be fine). I see your budget is $200-$300 USD, but if you can stretch $50-$100 for one of these it will be worth it IME.

I've been using a beyer m88 a hell of a lot on cabs lately, but I'm getting away from the congested rock sound of the SM57 I guess. I think an m88 is in your price-range. I almost always close-mic cabs, but for a room mic in your range maybe a 4047?

For acoustic, it varies too much to say. I'm rarely recording ac gtr for its full-spectrum glory; in my studio, my fleamarket harmonys get at least as much use as my $2k-whatever acoustic. Probably more than anything else I use sm81's, but I've also found that almost any mic can be the right mic for ac gtr. Like vocals.

What Warhead said for electric.

M88, RE-20 and SM7 are all out of his price range unless it's a fluke second hand. PR-30 is awesome but a 57 is extremely solid.

As far as Acoustic is concerned, I like the NT1-a. Some people think Rode mikes are too bright but I like them more than the ATs I have used. Someone here did a shootout with a few mikes on acoustic and NT1-a sounded the best for me, better than a TLM-103. It's also good on male voice that is not thin. I'd steer clear if your voice doesn't have too much bass in it or for female voice.

Audix makes a few dynamic that would fit the bill very very well, the OM-2 is a favorite of mine.
my first choice would be a Electro-Voice RE-16, as they are still available.

As you can see by all the posts, there are many options. I think you should go with a Large Diaphragm Condenser, because most of them will give you a wide range of use (when considering Male Vox and Acoustic)

The SM7b is an AWESOME mic for vocals and will give you a distinct flavor on a guitar cab. However, I thought it sucked for acoustic, so I have to disagree with most of you on that suggestion. It's just too dark and thick. I mic'd a bright sounding Gibson LG-1, and I could not get it to have any sort of brilliance. The very aspects that make it my favorite vocal mic take away its ability to function as a good acoustic mic, IMO. (which, for me, is fine).

It sounds like you're looking for an AT or a Rode NT1a. These are what comes to mind, but other LDCs will do you good as well.

Of course.... you can go the budget route. Get yourself a stupid little MXL 993 for $100 or so (unless you hunt used). It's only reasonably useful on acoustic. But then you'd have the money to look for a used SM7, if you wanted to take a different path and try to buy two mics. This might take you a bit over $300.
