896HD & Octopre via lightpipe

Just in case someone else has used these two items together, I ask: How do you make the Octopre and 896HD work together? I have installed the ADAT card into the Octopre. I have connected the Octopre to the 896 via fiber-optic cable (Hosa). I plug in a mic cable to the Octopre. The LED on the Octopre shows that it's getting a signal.
I've been poring over the manuals but I can't figure this baby out. How do I make the 896 and the AudioDesk software on my Powerbook (soon to be DP 4.5) accept that signal from the Octopre?
Thanks for helping out a technically ignorant guy.

Go into the MOTU PCI Audio Console and set the input from "Analog" to "ADAT".

I don't have a MOTU PCI AUDIO console. I have a Firewire Cuemix Console, and a Firewire SMPTE console, but that's it.

Be aware that you can only input a maximum of four channels from the OctoPre at a time via Lightpipe at sampling rates over 48k (you have to duplex 88.2/96k inputs since the Lightpipe standard is limited to 44.1/48k sampling rates).
