| Gear maniac | multiband comp instead of high passing i should preface in saying, that i dont own any software multiband compressors that are worth a damn (DP version really lousy) does anyone use this on low end instead of just a HP filter? im thinking of trying a demo with a some i have already done and switchy all of the HP filters with multibus compresssion ducking about the same amount.. might be awesome, might not. probably a phase nightmare |

| I often use a MB compressor to tame the low end on tracks - when needed. You could do it with EQ filtering, but you'd have to ride the EQ gain (which is effectively what a MB compressor does.) You'd get a different effect just setting-and-forgetting the HP filter - it does nothing to control dynamics, which is what a comp does. EQ is for tonal manipulation.

| if you want you can just filter a trigger input ot a compressor and use i as a single band LF compressor..but don't know why you would want to do that unless your MB compressor sucks that bad
