MOTU 896HD Firewire DEAD... any workarounds?

So it's been determined by the most condescending, arrogant tech support rep (Joe? Joel?) ever at MOTU that my firewire is dead on my 896HD and it requires a $79.95 repair that they can take VISA OR MC for ("how did you want to pay?"

Well, Joe -- you clown -- I want to try to sell this POS for $500 so I can get an Apogee Duet to be honest... do you think it's even worth that much?

Anyway...

I dont have time to be sending stuff all over country -- I have tons of projects that need to get finished up .. like ... today. 8000sq feet isnt cheap rent...

Is there anyway I can still use this to record somehow ... ?? it works in stand alone.. i mean... the fantom is full of stuff that needs to get tracked even temporarily... how bad is this 1/8 input? lol

help!!!

anyone got a duet for trade?

you could possibly use the adat in/out to connect to the mac pro in/out via adat - i've never done it but know the connections are there so worth a look. i don't know how many channels it supports
