| What mics do different famous radio personalities use? What mics do different famous radio personalities use? I remember seeing on Stern's E show that he had a U87 and everyone else had SM7s? I know Rush uses a golden RE20. I assume by the sound of it that most NPR people are using Neumanns (in very dead rooms), and I think I remember seeing some at the Boston's WBUR when I was there... but more insight would be good. I'm sure a lot sluts have been in NPR radio studios for one reason or another. What do you think the average sports caster is using? The average talk radio show hosts? I assume the usual suspects... RE20, SM7, Nuemanns of one sort of another, but specifics would be nice. Also what do you think the typical processing is on these? What kind of pre and compressor? Deessing? I gotta say radio sounds damn good. Never hear anything "bad" except on college radio... of course boston is a big market. |

| I always thought the standard radio mic was a RE20. I don't know that's what the FAMOUS people use though . . .

| My favorite mic when I was on the air in L.A. and San Francisco was the Sennheiser 421 with the rolloff ring set to "M". I was never "famous" per se, but worked with a few who were.
