Video (editor jobs) vs Music (job) 10 to 1 it seems.

So as of late, I noticed a few composer in the LA area looking for assistants - - wonder how much that would pay? Anyway, I have scored FF trailers (pays well) and worked with someone that had a weekly sitcom (now in syndication, so he's set for life)....

The reason for this post, wondering why with all the shows, and soon to be INTERNET shows, why music, music supervisor, composers, are few and far between (less an agent of course) whereas Final Cut/Avid jobs seem to be arriving 3, 4, 5 new job posts a day.

I also noticed the other night in a very large book store, that the music section, which used to be huge (on periodicals, but books, ala MIXING, RECORDING) was decimated. I though to myself, what a shame, and felt like the music business is really dead and for some reason, it affected publications. There were hardly any books at all.

The ressiosson (US) doesn't help either.

Thoughts?

I'm a musician, I work as a Flash designer. Go figure.

I'm learning digital sound apps though.

I see that too. Every listing "EDITOR NEEDED" LOGGER NEEDED, composer needed is never seen and audio is always the last in the movie/tv chain yet imho, the most important. Why is it the composer gigs are never listed and editors are needed all the time?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Grin, no offense, but "I'm a musician" is probably a common phrase, what I was really getting at, was as a composer who has scored for FF/TV, you don't see "composer" needed, or when you do, it's like 1-10, with 10 always needing a editor.

Strange, as in time, they will need a composer. Have a friend at a big studio, (CULVER CITY), said he could get me a job as a editor, FCP, just send him a resume, no reel needed, and it pays pretty good (not as good as composer work, that's for sure) but am wondering, to get going again in this biz, if its a good idea as you will be working with producers again and how often does the editor have to play foley, sound design, composer, even i f means dropping in beds, being able to compose must have some advantages.

Maybe we need a job board here? (grin)
