is it possible to record lead guitar tracks play it backwards on protools?

Maybe a dump question or a software answer. can you flip an audio region backwards in protools? You know how we use to do it by flipping the analog tape around. So you would get a backwards reverb effect and the lead solo or whatever track your using.
appreciate any replies. I am just man trying to make decent recordings....

You should have an AudioSuite plugin called 'Reverse'.

You have to cut it up so each note is a region, then select them all and reverse with the plug set to regions and not continuous file.

that will definately work to do it on PT, but it would be much easier to just buy a pedal that will reverse as you play. there are plenty of them out there. it would save a lot of time editing in PT, plus you could pull it off in a live situation too.

That's correct if what you want is a reverse envelope on each note, but you want to retain the original sequence of notes as played forward. If you just want the entire thing backwards, the select the whole region.

Technically speaking, for a pedal to actually reverse your part as you play, it's going to have to know how you're going to end your part so it will know what to start with. I assume you're referring to a pedal that will put a reverse envelope on each note.

The only way to really reverse a part so that the decays feed into attacks in reverse is to learn the part backwards and track it backwards (with the entire song or at least a guide track playing back in reverse) and then when you flip the entire thing around forwards you have your original part played backwards. I did this once but we didn't use it. Others have done it as well. Adrian Belew comes to mind, but I know there have been others.
