| Mirophone Diaphrams I am wondering what the differences are in sonic quality and the pros and cons between large diaphragm condenser/capacitor mics versus small diaphragm ones. Thanks |

| This is interesting: www.dpamicrophones.com/Images/DM00670.pdf Small dia. condensers tend to be a little bit more sensative to high frequencies compared to larger diaphrams.... generally due to mass, size, and electronics of the diaphram. ALL microphones are different though... throw a large and a small up... gain them similarly (use meters to get them to be equal in loudness) and then solo one and then the other.

| mic diaphragms in the 200-300 dollar price range, would larger diaphragm mics or smaller diaphragm ones be better for recording male vocals and acoustic guitar |

| for "typical" results, a SDC on acoustic and a LDC on vocals would be very normal sounding. if you're talking one mic, you probably want an Audio Technica 4033/4040/4050

| I always thought that SDC mics were more accurate because the smaller diaphragm has less mass, therefore it can respond quicker, thus also picking up the low end frequencies extremely well as the high end ones, and everything else in between. |
