Looking for studio space in London

Sorry if this isnt the right place for this... I will glady move or remove it if its inappropiate!

Long story short, I am moving from my country school house in essex to (somewhere) in North London in march. This means that I will most likely have to find a studio to rent/share/whatever. I can really make do with a 12x12 double garage or similar room. Bonus if it has a control room. I do mostly retro bands, live. I tend to do one weekend a months recording, 1 band practice a week and a few evenings of mixing, folling around, fixing things, whatever. I have a small but nice setup and some nice vintage and modern outboard. Excellent mic collection featuring RCA ribbon classics, and if in a space share situation am happy to share gear as well.

About me: I am a software development professional who is reliable trustworthy and honorable. I'm not rich but am financially secure. I tolerant of most things. I am also a musician (double bass).

Anyone know of anything or have any places (like magazines or newspapers, etc) that I can start looking in? I'm not from these parts (American ex-pat) and so am not too familar with the local scene.

As far as what I can afford - I guess it's dependent on the room. I am "fairly" flexiable.

Thanx!
