Incubus guitar sound

Hello.
One of my clients wants to get that Incubus guitar sound. He is curently playing USA Stratocaster and Les Paul Doublecut, thinking of adding the Marshall Valvestate 8008 power amplifier(rack-thing..). Is this any good for that sound? Please, some sugestions regarding amps, cabs, stomp boxes .. he really wants that sound available on his live gigs, so micing and pre are not important issues for the moment (going Neve1073 and Royer 121 comes first to mind).
Thanks.

Well I consider the Marshall Valvestate is never really good. Allthough it works for some. I believe the guys from Meshuggah still use them while they could pick something else. But for the Incubus sound I wouldn't find it suitable. It's cold sounding, it has no tubes.

Mike Einzinger uses a Paul Reed Smith (nowadays hollowbody) into a Mesa Dual Rectifier Tremoverb. Pedals he uses I know of are the Hughes&Ketner Rotosphere and a very weird one, the Dod Gonkulator (I think that's not made anymore).

He uses a PRS, Dual Rec, and a bunch of DOD and Boss pedals. Basic standard gear you could buy at Guitar Center...

Incubus doesn't really have one general guitar sound. Each one of their albums has a completely different sound. Couldn't sound more different actually. Ask your client to be album specific.

If you haven't listend any Incubus albums I'd suggest you listen to Make Yourself, and Morning View. Those are good examples of how different this band can sound. (Excellent Albums, BTW)
